Olivier Giroud has admitted that he determined to go away Arsenal for “perfect” London rivals Chelsea as a result of he wanted a “new challenge”.

The Frenchman joined Chelsea as a part of a deadline-day pass-the-striker as he changed Michy Batshuayi, who in flip crammed the void left by Arsenal’s new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Giroud joined for a complete £18m on an 18-month deal as he looked for extra first-team alternatives forward of this summer season’s World Cup with France.

And talking as a Chelsea participant for the primary time, Giroud admitted he wanted a contemporary problem after his five-and-a-half seasons in north London.

“It’s been a while since I played regularly and that’s why I needed to move,” he stated after the membership’s Three-Zero win towards West Brom. “I wanted a brand new problem and Chelsea was the proper membership for me.

“It’s the Premier League, a membership which has received extra titles previously ten years than every other. It’s an enormous membership and I’m very proud to be right here and to hold on my profession within the Premier League.

“I had five amazing years there (Arsenal), but now it’s a new chapter of my career and I am focused 100 per cent on the Blues to reach our targets. I’m very happy to be here.”

Giroud made an immediate impression on his first begin for Chelsea, as he assisted Eden Hazard for his or her opening objective towards basement dwellers West Brom.
