The boyfriend of a Love Island star is fighting for his life after being found unresponsive and with no pulse in his jail cell.
Daniel Doyle, who is currently dating Shannen Reilly McGrath from the 2017 series, was rushed to intensive care on Friday after prison staff found his seemingly lifeless body behind bars, reports the Irish Mirror .
Guards did first aid and managed to resuscitate him, before he was dashed to hospital where his life “hangs in the balance”, with doctors saying they don’t know whether he will pull through.
The fitness model, who was linked to Stephanie Davis last year when it emerged Shannen had been getting close to Jeremy McConnell , is thought to have ingested something in the night that may have caused the medical emergency.
Another inmate was also found unresponsive in a separate cell when the doors were opened at 8am, but was treated in hospital and has since returned to jail.
Doyle had been locked up in Dublin’s Mountjoy prison since February, after pleading guilty to possession of drugs for sale or supply at his home.
Irish gardai had caught him with more than 400 pills, which were confirmed to be MDMA after testing, along with syringes, weighing scales and thousands of euros in cash.
He was sentenced to two years behind bars, but is expected to be freed by the end of 2018.
Speaking on Instagram after her boyfriend was rushed to intensive care, Shannen desperately prayed for him to recover.
“We have had our ups and downs but you can’t help who you fall in love with or who you love,” she wrote.
“I never ever stopped loving Dano no matter what happened between us. So I don’t care what anyone’s opinions are.
“I was back with him before this devastating news and I’d do anything in the world for him. I am praying he fights his way through this.
“He is a fighter and I know he can. We’ve too much planned and he’s too much to live for.”
She went on: “He’s the love of my life and always will be. I’ve never loved anyone the same I love him and no one has and will never compare to him.
“Please pull through, I am begging God to fix this mess if there is one up above.
“I love you and I know you know just how much I do.”
A source told the Irish Mirror that Doyle – who appeared on the hit Irish drama Love/Hate – will be given tests to find out what caused him to fall unconscious.
“When staff at Mountjoy opened the cells this morning they discovered Doyle unresponsive, he had no pulse,” said the insider.
“He was rushed to the nearby Mater Hospital were doctors managed to get a pulse back.
“His life currently hangs in the balance and only time will tell if he will pull through. Tests will have to be carried out to determine why he ended up in such a condition.”
Daniel hit headlines when his Love Island on/off ex accused him of jealousy after he blasted her as an escort.
The model and dental nurse told the Daily Star his claims were lies, adding: “My ex-boyfriend got jealous.
“He made up claims about me, saying I’m something that I’m not.”
After she got dumped from the villa last summer, Shannen came home to Dublin and found love with her criminal ex.
